1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith: “In the beginning it pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for the manifestation of the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, to create or make the world, and all things therein, whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good.”
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV)
?”Faithful preaching will render the minister unpopular, and will empty, not “fill” churches.”
~ A.W. Pink
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
(1 John 4:7-9 ESV)
My name is Luis Flores Sanchez. My birthday is September 28th 2003. I live in a small house with 9 other people; my parents, my siblings, my grandparents and me. My parent’s names are Wilber and Marylin. I have 5 siblings and I’m the middle one. My hobby is to color. In school my favorite subject is Math and the most difficult is Technology. My favorite book from the Bible is Genesis. I’ve been coming to the ministry since October 2011 and my favorite thing to do there is to play with the skateboard. I like when we study the Bible. I would like to ask you to pray for me and my family.
“Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God’s grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God’s grace….Pharisee-type believers unconsciously think they have earned God’s blessing through their behavior. Guilt-laden believers are quite sure they have forfeited God’s blessing through their lack of discipline or their disobedience. Both have forgotten the meaning of grace because they have moved away from the gospel and have slipped into a performance relationship with God.” – Jerry Bridges
It is important to realize that our Lord Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled the law of God, both in its requirements and its penalty. He did what Adam failed to do — render perfect obedience to the law of God. Then by His death He completely paid the penalty of a broken law. So, from the standpoint of obedience to the law and of paying the penalty for breaking the law, He perfectly fulfilled the law of God. — Jerry Bridges
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
(Deuteronomy 29:29 ESV)
“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.
(Luke 12:4 ESV)
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
(2 Timothy 4:1-5 ESV)
http://ow.ly/gVwqf But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
(2 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV)
Paul never glamorized the gospel. It is not success, but sacrifice. It’s not a glamorous gospel, but a bloody one–a gory gospel, and a sacrificial gospel. Five minutes inside eternity and we will wish that we had sacrificed more, wept more, grieved more, loved and prayed more, and given more.
~ Leonard Ravenhill
“True repentance is a change of direction. It involves turning away from sin and toward God—replacing sinful actions with righteous ones. Genuine repentance springs from heartfelt sorrow over sin because it is against God and then leads to real change in the way a person thinks and lives.”
-Joshua Harris
“You shall not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns. You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), lest he cry against you to the LORD, and you be guilty of sin.
(Deuteronomy 24:14-15 ESV)
Every word of God proves true;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words,
lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.
(Proverbs 30:5-6 ESV)
Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. ~Jesus
(Luke 11:23 ESV)
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
(2 Timothy 2:23-26 ESV)
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me.
(2 Timothy 1:8-12 ESV)

http://ow.ly/gPlNh The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
(1 Timothy 3:1-3 ESV)
Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”
(Luke 7:47 ESV)
As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed. Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
(2 Thessalonians 3:13-15 ESV)
But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
(2 Thessalonians 2:13-15 ESV)
“Without absolutes revealed from without by God Himself, we are left rudderless in a sea of conflicting ideas about manners, justice and right and wrong, issuing from a multitude of self-opinionated thinkers. ”
~John Owen
“The way to have the soul transformed , changed into, and made like unto God, is frequently to converse with God. We say a man is as his company. Persons by conversing together, frequently catch each others tempers: and if you have a mind to imbibe the divine temper, pray much.”
-George Whitefield
If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat,
and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink,
for you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the LORD will reward you.

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?
(Luke 9:23-25 ESV)
This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.
(2 Thessalonians 1:5-10 ESV)
We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
(1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 ESV)
“If we regularly beheld the glory of Christ our Christian walk with God would become more sweet and pleasant, our spiritual light and strength would grow daily stronger and our lives would more gloriously represent the glory of Christ. Death would be most welcome to us.”
~ John Owen
My son, fear the LORD and the king,
and do not join with those who do otherwise,
for disaster will arise suddenly from them,
and who knows the ruin that will come from them both?
(Proverbs 24:21-22 ESV)
For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.
(Luke 5:9-11 ESV)
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
(1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 ESV)
“How can they understand forgiveness if they don’t understand the penalty of sin?. Men cannot understand. They cannot seek grace and salvation unless they are affected with the dread of the wrath of God that is upon them. Unless men sense they are in grave danger there’s no pressure applied to them to change.”
~John MacArthur
It must be gospel, and gospel only. “If it be of grace, it is not of works, otherwise grace is no more grace; and if it be of works, then it is not of grace, otherwise work is no more work.”"
~ Charles Spurgeon
Do not eat the bread of a man who is stingy;
do not desire his delicacies,
for he is like one who is inwardly calculating.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
but his heart is not with you.
(Proverbs 23:6-7 ESV)
For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive, but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. For we never came with words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—God is witness.
(1 Thessalonians 2:3-5 ESV)
For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
(1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 ESV)
Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.
(Proverbs 22:6 ESV)
He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.
(Luke 3:7-8 ESV)
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
(Colossians 4:5-6 ESV)
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
(Colossians 3:1-4 ESV)
“The cliché, God hates the sin but love the sinner, is false on the face of it and should be abandoned. Fourteen times in the first fifty Psalms alone, we are told that God hates the sinner, His wrath is on the liar, and so forth. In the Bible, the wrath of God rests both on the sin (Romans 1:18ff) and on the sinner (John 3:36).”
-D.A. Carson
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
(Colossians 2:6-7 ESV)
And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
(Colossians 1:21-23 ESV)
Newsletter - January 3, 2013
Friends and supporters of Heart of Christ Ministries,
It has been a long time since I have updated you via newsletter, for that I apologize. I will try to be more frequent in doing so, please pray for me in that.
Last month was an incredible month for the ministry. We had a couple Christmas events with your help and I have much to share with you about that. We were able to raise enough money to bless over 100 children with gifts and I was able to share the gospel with them as well. At the ministry in Caja De Agua we had about 80 children attend our outreach and we had over 20 volunteers come to help us. On top of that we had over 40 people donate to make that possible. Not only did each child receive a gift but also the families of the children that come to the ministry most frequently received a gift and a Bible. When we delivered the gifts to the families I was able to share the gospel with each one of them. Please join us in praying for everyone that we reached this Christmas.

Most of you are probably aware that we have two people helping us now on a regular basis. Liz and Carlos (Copa) have been a great blessing and encouragement to Pamela and I and have been a huge blessing to the children. Liz spends her time teaching the Bible lessons to the older kids and Copa teaches the younger ones. That gives Pamela and I time to work one on one with kids and to spend time talking with the parents that come. Please pray for Liz and Copa as well as for Pamela and myself as we minister the gospel of grace to these kids and this community.

Recently my wife and I have started helping Liz with some kids that live near to her house. Liz has been teaching the Bible to them for a few months now. On average she has about 30 kids every Saturday afternoon. Through your generous donations for the Christmas event we were able to provide presents for well over 40 kids that live near her home. I was also able to preach the gospel to them and to their parents. Needless to say that all the kids were really excited about the events that we had. Please pray that God will use those seeds that were planted through the preaching of the gospel to bring these kids to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

This month I want to ask you to keep a few things in prayer. These kids get to hear the gospel and get to be taught God’s Word often, please pray for their salvation. Also pray that the gospel that is preached will reach deep into their homes and communities and we will see the fruit and the power of the gospel at work. Pray for those of us that are serving out here, Pamela, Liz and Copa sacrifice a lot in order to serve the ministry, pray that they will be blessed in every way. Pray for me, TJ, I have been away from home for about a year and a half since I have seen my family and friends back home. It is hard to be away and I miss them and all of you so much. Pray for provision for my family and for the ministry and the other servants, after Christmas is usually a slow time for donations.
We have started, and plan to continue, publicly proclaiming the gospel throughout Lima. Pray that as we go out to parks and to other busy places around Lima that we will boldly and faithfully proclaim the true gospel and that those who hear may believe in the Lord Jesus.
Keep up with us on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, and our website.
Thank you for subscribing to this Newsletter and please share it with your friends and family.
Grace and Peace from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Those who have had their “tickets punched” and have been assured, mistakenly, of their salvation solely due to something they did, a card they filled out, a prayer they recited, are some of the hardest people in the world to reach with the real message of repentance and faith. ~ James White
“Really what you’re doing, by putting up, by tolerating a besetting sin in your life. In a measure your blaspheming, your insulting the Cross of Christ.” ~Bob Jennings
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler,
and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
(Proverbs 20:1 ESV)
And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”
And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
(Luke 1:34-38 ESV)
I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
(Philippians 4:10-13 ESV)
But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
(Philippians 3:7-11 ESV)
“If we regularly beheld the glory of Christ our Christian walk with God would become more sweet and pleasant, our spiritual light and strength would grow daily stronger and our lives would more gloriously represent the glory of Christ. Death would be most welcome to us.”
~ John Owen
“The power of the incarnation is that it makes the presence and glory of God visible. By taking flesh and blood, Christ made known the unseen God.”
~ Paul David Tripp
And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.” And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”
(Mark 15:36-39 ESV)
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
(Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV)
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
(Ephesians 6:11-18 ESV)
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
(Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV)
“But the challenge is always this: Are men and women going to allow the Word of God to sit in judgment on their puny minds, or are they going to make their puny minds the judges of the Word of God?
We have taken the latter course as a culture. So there is mass confusion today—even in the evangelical church—over whether the Bible is true and over how far we should go in obeying it.”
-Alistair Begg, The Hand of God
“The theory of evolution is incompatible with the Gospel of Jesus Christ even as it is in direct conflict with any faithful reading of the Scriptures.”
~ Al Mohler
This much we know: All those who find salvation will be saved by the atoning work of Jesus the Christ — the virgin-born Savior. Anything less than this is just not Christianity, whatever it may call itself. A true Christian will not deny the Virgin Birth. ~ Al Mohler
The beginning of strife is like letting out water,
so quit before the quarrel breaks out.
(Proverbs 17:14 ESV)
And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
(Mark 14:22-25 ESV)
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
(Ephesians 4:1-3 ESV)
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
(Ephesians 3:14-19 ESV)
All that is between God and man in the scripture is for man’s necessity, and not for any need that God hath thereof. And other spiritual profit can none have by that faith in the sacrament, than to be taught thereby to believe in Christ our Savior, and to do good to his neighbor.
William Tyndale, refrormer
Afflictions are light when compared with what we really deserve. They are light when compared with the sufferings of the Lord Jesus. But perhaps their real lightness is best seen by comparing them with the weight of glory which is awaiting us.
—Arthur W. Pink
“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
(Mark 13:24-27 ESV)
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
(Ephesians 1:3-6 ESV)
We deny that any supreme and infallible judge except Scripture need be sought with regard to external proof of the object, much less that the pope, who assumes such a task, is to be accepted. We believe that Scripture alone, or God speaking in it, is enough.
Francis Turretin, Swiss reformer
“There never was a person who did unfeignedly repent of sin with believing repentance who was not forgiven. On the other hand, there never was a person forgiven who had not repented of his sin” ~Spurgeon
And as men’s diversions increase from the world, so do their entanglements from Satan. When they have more to do in the world than they can well manage, they shall have more to do from Satan than they can well withstand.
—John Owen
Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
(Mark 12:29-31 ESV)
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
(Galatians 6:1-3 ESV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
(Galatians 5:22-24 ESV)
For as the good fruit is not the cause that the tree is good, but the tree must first be good before it can bring fourth good fruit: so the good deeds of man are not the cause that makes men good, but he is first made good, by the spirit and grace of GOD that effectually works in him, and afterward he brings fourth good fruits.
Thomas Cramner, reformer
Foolish talking and jesting are not the ways in which Christian cheerfulness should express itself, but rather “giving of thanks” (Eph. 5:4). Religion is the source of joy and gladness, but its joy is expressed in a religious way, in thanksgiving and praise.
—Charles Hodge
Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner,
but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.
(Proverbs 14:21 ESV)
For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
(Galatians 3:10-11 ESV)
“If we do not preach about sin and God’s judgment on it, we cannot present Christ as Saviour from sin and the wrath of God. And if we are silent about these things, and preach a Christ who saves only from self and the sorrows of this world, we are not preaching the Christ of the Bible . . . Such preaching may soothe some, but it will help nobody; for a Christ who is not seen and sought as a Saviour from sin will not be found to save from self or from anything else” ~Packer

Please consider making a commitment to pray for this ministry on a regular basis in 2013. As we seek to take the gospel to as many Men, Women and Children as possible please pray for us and those who will hear the gospel.
Ministry Update July 17th 2012
Hey everyone, it has been a very long time since my last blog update on the ministry. So I wanted to take a few minutes and let you know what has been going on the past few months.
God has been very very gracious to us as always. We have had the same 20 or so kids coming steadily for the past 6 or 7 months with different kids coming occasionally. We have been teaching the kids daily Bible studies. We have been going through a booklet that explains Biblical Doctrines very simply. The kids have been responding well, and have been asking a lot of questions. The behavior of the kids has been better at times but they seem to regress often. We have been trying to work with their parents on this. Whenever we have behavioral issues we go with the child to talk to their parents. This has been effective in some situations but ineffective in others. Some of the parents really want to help us and really desire good behavior from their kids but others just don’t care. But we will continue that process to try to make it a fun and peaceful learning environment for all the kids. We have also started a new process of rewarding the kids who participate and who behave. We are keeping track daily of these things and will give out candy, toys and other things for consistent good behavior and participation. Also everyday after the Bible study the kids that participated get about 1 hour in the center to do anything they want. They love that, and we have had great response from it.
Most of you know that I have recently gotten married. This has not just been a great blessing for my life but it is also a great blessing for the ministry. We also just found out that we are expecting a new member to our brand new family. We couldn’t be more excited. We began praying for a baby on our wedding day. We ask you to pray for our baby and for my wife, there are always risks during pregnancy so please keep that in prayer.
My wife and I were living at the building that I built for the ministry for the first month of our marriage, but we are now living at her mom’s house. After much prayer we have decided to give up the building that you guys helped me build when I first got here. God has been so gracious to us with providing a better place to do ministry and better place to live that we just decided that it was better just to rid ourselves and the ministry of the drama and problems that accompanied that place and the people involved with that place. So now my wife and I have a much nicer and safer place to live and it also allows us to be away from the ministry when we are not there to work so we can actually rest on our days off.
Over the last couple of months we have had visitors from the United States here helping the ministry. We had a missionary team from Texas here for 2 days, a missionary from the U.S.A. who serves for the most part in Cambodia here for 2 days and our friend Beth from North Carolina was here for about 3 weeks. It has been such a blessing and encouragement having people here serving with us. We ask you to pray for the individuals who have been here helping and pray that God sends more, maybe even YOU
We have changed the schedule at the ministry. This is what it looks like now. We are there ministering four days a week (starting this week), we had been there five days but have concluded that less time will allow us to better serve the kids and their families. We are there Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1pm-7pm and on Saturday from 10am-6pm. On the weekdays, the first couple of hours are free time and open to everyone, at 4 we have the Bible study until 5 then from 5 until 7 is free time but only for the kids who were participating in the Bible study. Saturdays are free time and open to anyone until 3, the Bible study is from 3 till 4 then it is free time for the kids that participated in the Bible study.
Prayer needs are many as always. Please pray first and foremost for my wife and I to put God first. Pray for our personal relationships and study time with the Lord because without that we are worthless to each other or to anyone else. Pray for our health and the health of our baby. Pray for the kids and their families as we minister the Word of God to them. Pray that they are born again, that they repent and trust in Jesus. Pray for God to send people to come and help us, especially on Saturdays. Pray for God to raise up more monthly sponsors for us and the ministry.
We have some financial requests that you guys can pray about or help us with. We have a neighbor of the ministry that is an old lady who can no longer walk, she is in need of a wheelchair. We have some repairs that could be made to the building. We are still wanting to buy plastic boxes for each kid and fill them with school supplies so they can be responsible for their own things at the ministry.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and to pray for what God is doing here in Caja de Agua Lima Peru.
Grace and Peace, T.J.
What is a Biblical Christian?
March 28th 2012
I woke up early and came to the church to read and pray, I read:
Exodus 36-39
Philippians 4
Colossians 1
After reading I worked on the project for my brother. I almost finished it as I worked on it throughout the day. The kids came when Pam arrived and we had a good day with them. They did the bible study project and then Pam and I played volleyball with them. Then Pam did projects with them. I have started thinking about reducing my time here, maybe to 2 or 3 days per week and trying to find another location to do ministry 2 or 3 days a week. I think the kids are getting a little bored of the same thing everyday and a few have stopped coming so frequently. Pray for me please. I think that if we focus our efforts on 2 days a week we can reach more kids and focus more plainly and completely on the gospel. After the kids left, Pam and I read and then she went home. We found a taxi driver the other day that seems trustworthy so Pam started going home alone to save us money and me time. We read:
Psalm 89
Exodus 35:1-29
Esther 2
1 Corinthians 7
March 29th 2012
I woke up and came to the church to pray and read, I read:
Exodus 40
Leviticus 1-3
Job 1
Colossians 2-3
Pam arrived and we prayed together then read. We read:
Psalm 90
Exodus 35:30-36:38
Esther 3
1 Corinthians 8
We decided to take the day off. We went o McDonalds for lunch then we went grocery shopping. After that we got a movie and watched it together then she went home.
March 26th 2012
Woke up and came to the church to read and pray. I read:
Exodus 28-31
Ephesians 6
Philippians 1
After reading I spent sometime working on the website and talking to my brother about things for the site. Pam showed up later and we read together. We read:
Psalm 87
Exodus 33
Nehemiah 13
1 Corinthians 5
After reading and praying together we waited for the kids to come. They didn’t come so we decided to leave for the afternoon. We went to look at scooters. The best deal we found is the one we saw at first for 2500 soles which is about $1000. If we buy it, it will save us about $100 a month in transportation costs. So it will pay for itself in less than a year. After that we went and had dinner together then I went home and she went home.
March 27th 2012
I woke up and came to the church to read and pray. I read:
Exodus 32-35
Philippians 2-3
After that I met Pam at the bus stop and we went downtown to buy somethings for the Good Friday event. We spent the morning and afternoon shopping. We bought snacks, drinks, tables, things to serve the drinks in, an awning to cover the tables, tracts and more. We could’t get the bibles that we wanted so I contacted the Gideons when I got back to see if I could get them to give me some bibles. Pray!!! After that we spent a couple hours with the kids. Then Pam went home.
March 24th 2012
Woke up and did my reading and praying. I read:
Exodus 20:23
Ephesians 2-3
By the time Pam arrived kids were already here. At about 11 2 of my friends from church came to help out. We had an amazing day playing and doing bible studies. My friends stayed until about 4 then Pam and I did the bible study worksheets with them. The kids had so much fun today. God has also put it on a few hearts to help with the good Friday outreach. I am so excited for that.
March 25th 2012
I woke up early and did my reading and praying before I had to meet Pam and her sister to go meet Pam’s biological family. I read:
Exodus 24-27
Ephesians 4-5
I met Pam at about 10 and we traveled by bus for 2 hours across the city so she could meet some biological family members for the first time. It was an emotional day. We got home at about 4 and watch basketball then a movie and just relaxed.
March 23rd
Woke up got ready and came to the church. Prayed and read:
Exodus 16-19

March 22nd
Woke up got ready and came to the church. Prayed and did my reading:
Exodus 12-15
Galatians 4-5
After reading Pam showed up and we decided to take the day off. We went to my house and I did my laundry. After that we decided to go look at scooters. We went to San Miguel and while we were eating lunch we got a phone call telling us that Pam’s mom and sister were at the house. Pam had never met her mom, and only met her twin sister once. So we looked at scooters for a few minutes and then we went to her house to meet them. We talked with them for an hour and a half or 2 hours. Then Pam and I took them out for ice cream at McDonalds. After that they needed to leave but Pam’s sister decided to stay with her for the weekend. Then we went to Pam’s, I dropped them off and I went home. Pam and I did not read together.
March 20th 2012
Woke up at 7:30 got ready because I had to take a neighbor to Pam’s to look at some work that her mom needs done. After that Pam and I returned to the church. I did my reading:
Exodus 4-7
2 Corinthians 13
Galatians 1
After reading her and I read together:
Psalm 81
Exodus 26
Nehemiah 7
Romans 16
After reading we had lunch (ramen noodles) and prepared for the kids to come. We received an invitation from our friend Kenny who is leaving today to move to china, to have dinner with him and some other friends. So, Pam left to go change her clothes so we could go to dinner with them after the conversation club. I stayed with the kids while she took Daisy to her house with her to change her clothes.
After she returned she did the projects with the kids while I changed for the conversation club and dinner. We make a good team. We left the kids at about 5:30 to go to the conversation club. After that we went to dinner at Pastor Ricks house and said our goodbyes to Kenny. We took a taxi home because it was really late. We both went to be after we got home.

March 18th
I woke up and went to the church. Pamela was there waiting for me. We had time to talk and work through some problems. It was productive. I love here. She has been such a huge blessing to me, the ministry and these kids. We went to church then returned to the center to spend the afternoon relaxing together. It was my day off. Later we went to look at scooters. I really want to get one. I spend too much on transportation and I could buy a scooter for about $1,000 and it would save me a lot per month on transportation costs. I took her home after that and I came home to read. I read:
Genesis 46-49
2 Corinthians 9-10
March 19th
I came to the center early to read and pray. I haven’t had good prayer time for a few days. Need it. I read:
Genesis 50
Exodus 1-3
2 Corinthians 11-12
Pam came early, we hand’t read together for 2 days so we caught up on our reading. We read:
Psalm 78-80
Exodus 23:10-Exodus 25
Nehemiah:4-6
Romans 14-15:33
The kids came and we let them play for a couple hours. Then I had to go buy a new washing machine due to mine breaking. So we left for an hour to buy it. Then we returned and Pam did projects with the kids while I installed the washing machine. Then I took her home then came home to have a phone call with Roman. It was a blessing. Then I washed my clothes and cleaned my room.
March 16th 2012
I woke up in the morning, got ready and went to the church to pray and read. I read:
Genesis 38-41
2 Corinthians 5-6
Revolution in world missions chapter 17 I stopped reading this book and threw it away. I could’t take anymore. The reason why is because in this book, the methods (which are not commanded biblically) were expressed as the hope. Let me be clear, no method of sharing the gospel will save anyone, God is not bound by our methods. The Holy Spirit converts the hearts of men, not our methods.
After reading I found a note under my door telling me that the community would be having a meeting in our building tonight. So I cleaned the floor in the big room. After that Pam showed up and we prayed together and read. We read:
Psalm 77
Exodus 22:16-23:9
Nehemiah 3
Romans 13
First half of chapter 9 of Radical.
After that we played with and ministered to the kids. At night we played wii with the kids. Pam prepared popcorn for the meeting and we gave out punch. I took Pam home then went to bed.
March 15th 2012
Woke up and went to the church to pray and read. Today I read:
Genesis 34-37
2 Corinthians 3-4
Revolution in world missions 15-16
After reading and praying I I decided to spend some more time in prayer while I waited for Pam to get there. I had a really nice time praying.
When Pam got there we read:
Psalm 75-76
Exodus 20:18-22:15
Nehemiah 1-2
Romans 11-12
We had to read 2 days because we didn’t read together yesterday
And we read Radical chapter 7
After reading I cleaned up a little bit and cooked lunch. We had ramen noodles. After that I prepared projects for the kids and they arrived at about 2. They did the projects, an art project and a bible study, then they played with water sliding on the floor. We left at 5:30 to go to the conversation club. On the way, while on the bus Pam translated as I preached the gospel and we handed out brochures for the ministry that explain the gospel and about me and the ministry. We got to Lima center early so we decided to have dinner before the conversation club. After eating we handed out more brochures in the restaurant. The conversation club was good, there were 9 students there and most of them are from SJL so I invited them to the conversation club I am having in the center on Saturday evenings. We will see if they come. I took Pam home after the club then returned to my house to sleep. After talking to my mom on the phone I went to bed.
March 14th 2012
I woke up at 8 and got ready. I arrived at the church at 8:30 and spent sometime in prayer and did my reading. Today I read:
Genesis 30-33
2 Corinthians 1-2
Revolution in world missions chapter 14
I praise God for what HE is doing in and through Gospel for Asia. But this book is ridiculous. God is using the methods of this ministry in major ways but in this book it is stated that this is the only way that God is going to reach the lost in Asia. May I never think that the methods are not replaceable or changeable. Truth is, God uses us and our methods even though we are flawed and imperfect. Let me be clear, the Spirit of God moving in hearts through the preaching of the gospel is the ONLY method we must use to reach the lost. If anyone comes to you telling you that their method is the method that God must use to do His work. RUN FAST AND FAR from that person.
After reading I went to meet Pam at the store with her mom. Her mom wants to buy a new stove for us, so we will have one when we get married. Sounds nice, but I have a problem with this. She is using Pam’s name to get a loan to buy it. Owe no one anything but love, right? On my way there I got lost, I didn’t get off the bus when I was supposed to so I had to get off and take another bus to get there. While there I saw a scooter, it is cheap, like $700. I really want it. I spend over $100 a month on transportation. I think this would cut that cost in half. That means it would pay for itself in a year. I think I may sell my iPhone to buy it.
After shopping we went to lunch with Pam’s mom. Then we decided to take the rest of the day off. We went and paid some bills then came back to the church and watched a movie. She cooked me dinner, it was such a fun day and evening. I took her home then came back to sleep.
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
(2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ESV)
March 13th 2012
Woke up and came to the church to do my praying and reading. I read:
Genesis 26-29
1 Corinthians 15-16
Revolution in world missions 13
After reading I cleaned the church with the hose, spraying everything off to get rid of the spider webs and dust. It is nice to be clean.
I am working on the website and working on some plans for future events in the ministry. Easter weekend we will have an outreach as thousands walk up the stairs on a pilgrimage to the cross on the mountain above us. I plan to give out water and crackers and the gospel. Please pray for this, I need lot’s of people to help.
Pam showed up and we prepared lunch and ate then did our reading. We read:
Psalm 74
Exodus 20:1-17
Ezra 10
Romans 9:30-10:21
After reading we did a bible study packet with the kids then played some games with them. Pam took care of the kids for the most part today as I was working on the website.
We left to go to the conversation club downtown. They didn’t inform the students that I would be there so no students came. They assured me that they would promote it for Thursday!
Pam and I went shopping for groceries and then I came home.
March 12th 2012
I woke up at 8, got ready and came to the church to pray and read. Today I read:
Genesis 22-25
1 Corinthians 13-14
Revolution in world missions chapter 12
Today we were visited by Viviana and Kevin. It is such a blessing to have people come and help us. The kids were rebellious today, they didn’t want to participate but they finally came around and by the end of the day everything was good and we had a great bible study. We started John chapter 7. It is a lot of fun going through a book of the bible with the kids.
We did a math project that the kids enjoyed very much.
I took Pam home at 7, we had dinner together and then I came home.
Pam and I read:
Psalm 73
Exodus 19
Ezra 9
Romans 9:1-29
We are a day ahead on our year through the bible plan
March 11th 2012
I got up early to read and pray. I read:
Genesis 18-21
1 Corinthians 11-12
Revolution in world missions 11
I met Pam at the bus stop to go to church. After church we went to a going away party for our dear friend Kenny Chang. We had a great day being away from Caja De Agua. We spent the day in a once area with good friends. Makes me miss the luxuries.
Pam and I didn’t read because we were out all day. We must catch up tomorrow and get some great prayer time in.
March 10th 2012
We took the kids to the park today. It was so much fun. We had about 18 people and even a few of the moms went with us. I preached the gospel, we played and ate. It was fun. Pam and I went to dinner afterword at chillis. It we as much needed time away. God is good I did my normal reading
Genesis 14-17
1 Corinthians 9-10
Revolution in world missions 10
Pam and I read
Psalm 71
Exodus 17
Ezra 7
Romans 8:1-17
Radical first half of chapter 6
http://ow.ly/9AH4K It was grace that saved me. It was grace that caused my faith. It is grace that sustains me, It is grace that will keep me. AMAZNG GRACE!
March 9th 2012
I woke up at 7:30 and got ready. I was to the church by 8 to do my prayer time and reading. I had a really nice fruitful time in prayer this morning. Today I read:
Genesis 9-13
1 Corinthians 7-8
Revolution in world Missions 5-9
After reading Pam called and told me that her and her mom were taking a taxi to ICPNA and she wanted me to go with them. So I hurried out at 10 and went to the bus stop so they could pick me up in the taxi. Today was Pam’s graduation for the English institute. AWESOME!!! We got there and she had t get ready so I sat and read my book while I waited for it to start. After the ceremony her mm took us out to lunch to KFC. Then we went to her house so she could change. Then we went to be with the kids. The first thing we did when we got to the church was get the kids some toys so we could do our reading. We sat out front on the steps and read:
Psalm 70
Exodus 15:22-16:36
Ezra 6
Romans 7
We didn’t read in Radical today because we didn’t have time.
After reading we played volleyball with the kids for a while then we sat them down for a bible study. Today we studied the last few verses of John 6. The kids were restless so we talked about why we need to respect the word of God. Then I explained the gospel to them again. I think God is working in their hearts. Pray for them. After that I gave them something to drink then we left to take Pam home. Then I returned to my house to hang up my clothes and go to bed. We told the kids we would take them to the park tomorrow. I hope that was a good decision. Good night.
March 8th 2012
Woke up at 8 as usual and got ready. Arrived at the church at 8:30 and prayed. Started my reading, to day I read:
Genesis 5-8
1 Corinthians 5-6
George Muller 25-conclusion
After I finished my reading I spent some time in prayer. I prayed for everyone that has at one time or another donated to the ministry, I prayed for every child that we have a profile for on the website, then I prayed for many other things. It was a nice time in prayer. If you are reading tis and would like me to pray for you, email me. After that I worked on uploading picture to the website and did the dishes. After that I cleaned up a bit and started preparing grilled cheese sandwiches for me and Pam. I received a phone cll from a dear friend who I had prayed for a few minutes earlier. We chatted for about 30 minutes. While I was talking to her Pamela showed up and cooked our sandwiches. We ate lunch the did our reading. Today we read:
Last half of chapter 5 of Radical by David Platt
Psalm 68
Exodus 14
Ezra 4
Romans 5:12-21
After reading we prepared what we were going to talk about at the conversation club. Then a few kids came. We spent a few minutes with them until we had to leave to go to Pam’s rehearsal for her graduation from ICPNA. We were blessed to have Lesly come be with the kids while we were out. I sat in the lobby and started reading a book by the founder of gospel for Asia called revolution in world missions. Pretty good so far, I read the first 4 chapters. After that Pam and I went to get dinner before the conversation club. After eating we went back to ICPNA for the conversation club to find out that it had been canceled due to lack of communication with me. I am not sure what happened. I am bummed but am sure that there is a reason for it. I am still not sure if I will be able to have it this month or not. BUMMER! But since I have to leave the country by the 11th to renew my visa this may be a blessing. After leaving ICPNA we went to Pam’s to meet up with her family because they wanted to go out to dinner. Her mom took us to Domino’s, praise God for American pizza. After that I went home and am in bed. Good night.
March 7th 2012
I woke up at 8, I have been really tired the past few days. I got to the center at about 8:30 to do my daily reading and prayer. Today I read:
Genesis 1-4
1 Corinthians 3-4
George Muller 22-23
After reading and praying I decided to clean the center. So I got out the hose and started hosing everything off, from the rafters to the floor. I need a longer hose I could only do the ¾ of the bottom room and the 2 upper rooms need it bad also. If you would like to buy us a longer hose we would be blessed. As I was washing off the walls the paint started to come off. One day when we have the means to do it I would like to hire someone to come paint the place. Pray with me on that. It is definitely not a need but it would make the place look better. After that I cleaned all of our chairs.
At about 12:30 I cooked me Ramen noodles for lunch. Delicious. After lunch I worked on uploading pictures to the website of the kids. Pamela showed up at 2 after being with her mom this morning. We read:
The first half of chapter 5 of Radical by David Platt
Psalm 68
Exodus 14
Ezra 4
We read yesterday what we needed to read in Romans today for our year through the bible reading plan.
After that the struggle began.
We started doing reading and writing projects with the kids. And all was going fine until the older and more influential kids decided to rebel. They started throwing a fit and after not getting what they wanted, they went outside. After the other kids finished their worksheets we all went outside to have some punch to drink to cool off. During this time the kids that were causing the problems were saying things to bother us and the other kids. I went inside for a minute and while I was there a rock was thrown at Pamela. After making it very very clear that I would not tolerate rock throwing the kids that did it walked up the hill a little bit and started to play. Pamela and I gave the remaining kids some toys and came in the back room to pray. We prayed earnestly for God to work on our hearts and the hearts of the kids. HE IS SI FAITHFUL.
After praying we came down to the main room and the kids were there. I sake Brenda, the oldest one, to come talk to Pam and I. After explaining to her the what this ministry exists for and what we are trying to accomplish and how she can help us, she started crying. After talking to her for a few minutes her friends came up and convinced her to leave and they went outside again. Again Pamela and I prayed. A few minutes later we heard a commotion out front, it was our friend Lesly coming to help us for the afternoon. The kids began to tell Lesly how bad Pamela and I were for what happened earlier so we all sat down to talk about it. After about 30 minutes of the kids telling us how they feel and us trying to explain to them how things work, brenda apologized to me and Pamela. Then she took the rest of the kids in the back room and talked to them. They called Pamela back and all apologized to her then shortly after they called me back and apologized to me. All was well again. God answered every bit of what we prayed for. We played with the kids for the next couple of hours. After Lesly left Pamela and I cooked dinner while the kids watched a movie. Pamela made popcorn for them. Then I took Pam home and came back. Good night world!
Money is really worth no more than as it can be used to accomplish the Lord’s work. Life is worth as much as it is spent for the Lord’s service. ~George Muller~
March 6th 2012
I woke up early this morning to meet Pam at the bus stop at 7:30 to go to the post office so she could receive a package. We arrived early and were able to get our reading done as we waited in line.
We read:
Radical by David Platt the last half of chapter 4
Psalm 67
Exodus 12:32-13:22
Ezra 3
Romans 5
When we got to the front of the line the person working there told us that because the name was different on the package (Pam’s middle name was put as her last name) that she could’t get the package without filling out a bunch of papers and emailing the papers to the sender for a signature. It was a mess. So we got the papers we needed for that. We decided that while we were there we would see of they had any packages for me. I am waiting on a few things. It turns out that they had a package for me there and another package at another office close to where I live. The process to pick up a package is a long one. So I filled out the papers and sat down to wait. While I was waiting I decided to do my personal reading. I read:
Malachi 1-4 I finished the old testament ![]()
1 Corinthians 1-2
George muller 18-21 I had a lot of time to read
I picked up the package at about 12, I had arrived there at 8:00 am. It was a package from Kirstie Saur of toothbrushes and other dental cleaning supplies for her upcoming trip to Peru. We are so excited to welcome her here and have her meet the kids.
After leaving the post office we headed to the other one to get my other package. This package was my mom’s old iPhone. After a more than an hour long bus ride we got the the other post office. We told the people why we were there and the told us to wait while they looked for the package. About an hour later they came to the front desk to inform us that the package had been stolen. BUMMER!!!! We filled out an incident report and went to work with the kids. We got to the center and we had no power. For some reason the power was out in the neighborhood. BUMMER! So we played with the kids until 5:30 then we had to leave to go have dinner with some friends. Before getting on the bus I had to pay a bill and we arrived at our destination at 6:10. We had dinner with Dante and Rachel, friends from church. Dante is Peruvian and Rachel is from the states, she has been a missionary in Peru for 4 ½ years. We had a very blessed time with them eating and playing UNO. After that I took Pam home then I came home to find the power back on, PRAISE GOD!!! And the water OFF
.
Tomorrow is a new day and I am excited to minister to the kids.

After reading I cooked grilled cheese sandwiches while Pam did the dishes. After eating the kids started coming. Today was the first day of school so most of them came to show us their new school uniforms. They looked adorable.
Today we gave them different math projects depending on their age and ability. While the older kids did that we (Pam and I) helped the littler kids learn numbers and matching skills. After that we did a bible study project. The kids worked harder on this than they have in a while. After that we did a bible study with the kids, John 6:52-59 Jesus is the bread of life. Great conversation and gospel presentation. We only had 7 kids today and they were well behaved. It was a nice day today. We left at 6 because I had to do my laundry at Pam’s because my washing machine is broken. We got to her house and started the first load then she took me out to dinner. I have an amazing girlfriend. I would be wise to marry her. After dinner we started the next load and spent a half hour praying together. It was a great night to end a great day. God is gracious. I took the bus home and hung up my clothes to dry now I am going to bed.
Grace and peace.
March 4th 2012
Sunday, I slept in a little longer than I should have, which I usually do on Sundays mornings. I got to the church at about 8:30 and got my reading done before I met Pamela at the bus stop to go to San Miguel for our church. My reading today was:
Zechariah 7-10
Romans 13-14
George Muller 16
Pamela and I were running a little late so she decided she wanted to pay for us to take a taxi instead of riding the bus so we could get there in time to eat breakfast before lunch. So that is what we did. We got to San Miguel at about 10 and had breakfast together at McDonalds. Church was good. The Word of God really penetrated my heart.
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
(Colossians 3:12-17 ESV)
Meditate over this text, I am sure it will bless you as much as it blessed me.
After church we came back to our church and read and prayed together. We had a nice time together in communion with Christ. We read 2 days of our year reading plan because we didn’t read yesterday. We read:
Psalm 64-65
Exodus 8:20- 10:29
2 Chronicles 36
Ezra 1
Romans 3:9-31
And we finished Chapter 3 in Radical by David Platt
After reading we spent a few minutes with the kids before that was interrupted by the community leaders wanting t have a meeting in the building. There will be an election soon to get new community leaders. PLEASE PRAY! After that the church that uses the building Sunday mornings had a service. So Pamela and I just spent time together eating and watching TV. Then I took her home and then came back.
I also spent some time working on a financial report for the ministry. I think I have it figured out so I can make it public and you guys can see where all the money goes. It still needs a little work, but my goal is to be transparent financially. I also uploaded more child profile videos and they should be on the website soon. And I recorded a video yesterday for the websites homepage but I didn’t turn out well. You can tell that I am reading, my eyes are not on the camera. Oh well, I am posting it anyway. I will upload it tonight, so hopefully it will be on the website soon.
I’m going to bed, Grace and Peace
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
(Romans 13:1-7 ESV)
Newsletter – March 4, 2012
Thank you all for your prayers and your donations to end the month of February. It was the most difficult month financially that I have had since I moved to Peru. God was faithful as always to use some of you to come through with timely donations. Thank you. I will again ask all of you to consider signing up to donate $10 per month. I have had a couple people tell me that they don’t want to just give $10 because it will not help enough, they would rather give more but they just can’t right now. But I can assure you, $10 helps infinitely more than $0. So please take a few minutes to sign up and give $10 a month. We can use it.
Though last month was the most difficult financially, God revealed on a deeper level to me His faithfulness. With a few days remaining in the months the ministry had received about $150 in donations. That is not enough to even pay the bills at the new building let alone feed me for a month. I sent an email out to everyone that has donated in the past and asked for you to consider becoming a monthly contributor to the ministry and to consider donation now to help. God was faithful to use a couple people to provide for the needs of the ministry and do showed me in numerous ways that He is and will always remain faithful. I prayed more than I have ever prayed this month and God has responded more than ever. I am convinced that God delights in the prayers of His kids. That may even have been why He withheld financing for so long last month. If you read my blogs then you read how even before He supplied any donations He led someone to take me and Pamela to lunch and to a park for an afternoon and how He showed His faithfulness in cotton candy. (read the post) By the end of the month our faithful God had supplied every need for the ministry and for me, our God is so good!
Last month was a very productive month in the ministry. We started doing bible studies everyday where we are going verse by verse through the gospel of John. It has been amazing. The kids are answering and asking many many questions. They are learning. I also taught a conversation club at a local institute for english students. God is opening doors for other opportunities to share the gospel. We have been playing minute to win it games with the kids and they love it. We have so much fun and are learning so much as well. The same kids come consistently and are all growing. We started making videos of all the kids so you guys can get to know them. Go to the website and check it out and start praying for each child.
Other prayer requests are these:
1- the kids to come to faith in Jesus
2- God to raise up people to come serve along side of us here
3- financial provision for the ministry and for me personally
4- people to partner with us to encourage and hold us accountable
5- I am going to start preaching in public places in 2 weeks. Pray God uses that.
6- for the english students to be transformed by the gospel
Physical needs:
1- a school supply package for each child
2- wire to fix the electrical
3- tables for the kids to do projects on.
4- paper and ink for the printer
5- Christian coloring books
6- bible art projects
7- balls
8- I need new flip flops
That is all for now. Please pray for me, I am trying to keep you guys better informed about everything. So look for more frequent updates and other resources to see what is going on in all aspects of this ministry.
Thank you so much, you all bless me.
Grace and peace!

I woke up early and went to the church for my prayer and study time. I had another amazing day in prayer. After my normal time on my knees with the Lord I spent time praying over a list that Pamela and I made the other day. After my time in prayer and study in the bible, the kids started coming. I had them help me clean then we worked to clean up the land in front of the church. We have a little open land that I would like to use, but first it needs to be leveled and I would need to plant grass. If I did that it would be a great place to do bible study with the kids. Please pray that God provides the funds to do that. After working on that I came back in and cooked lunch while the kids played. After lunch I started working on the computer. I am trying to make it so the ministry is more transparent. Please pray for me in this, it is a lot of work. But, it will help me be more organized and public about every part of the ministry. I want you guys to know where your money is going, and how I am spending my time. Pamela showed up at about 2. She was at a women’s fellowship with the girls from church. When she arrived we made a video for the home page of the website, it should be up in a few days. We had some problems with one of the kids writing graffiti on the church building and on the sidewalk in front of it. The kid is 16 years old and his name is Roger. Please pray for him. After this problem the kids all left and Pamela and I spent some time working on the finances for the ministry and trying to get it so we can publish the info. A little while later the kids came back and we played for a while. We left at about 6 and went grocery shopping. I bought food for lunches and dinners for next week. I spent about $45. I also bought the kids popsicles which costed about $.50 and my taxi to get to and from the grocery store was about $7. On my way home from the grocery store, right before I started walking up the stairs, my flip flop broke so I had to walk up without shoes. Not so much fun. When I got home I cooked grilled cheese sandwiches. While I was cooking, Roger and Jean Paul came to my door. Roger apologized for the way he acted this morning. This made my heart rejoice. Please keep praying for him. Now I am in bed ready to sleep. Good night!
I almost forgot to put my reading for the day
Zechariah 3-6
Romans 11-12
George Muller chapter 15
Pamela and i didn’t read together today, looks like we have some catching up to do tomorrow
Good night
March 2nd 2012
March 2nd 2012 Lima Peru
I woke up early and came to the church to pray and read. It was the best day in prayer that I can remember. Yesterday Pamela and I made a prayer list and after I spent my normal time on my knees crying out to the Lord I prayed the list that we had made then I prayed through the list of people that have donated to the ministry over the past year and a half. I was really blessed during this communion with God. I am reading through a book by George muller, if you don’t know about him I encourage you to get a book about his life. It is truly an encouraging story of the power of prayer. Since I started reading this book God has really been testing the ministry financially and I praise Him for that. It has really led me to pray like I have never prayed and I have been able to see His faithfulness even in very small things such as cotton candy among other things.
In the afternoon I went to have lunch at Pamela’s cousins house for her birthday. It was quite an uncomfortable experience for me due to the conversation I had with her uncle and mom the night before. I will spare you the details but basically for 2 hours they tried to talk Pamela and I out of getting married. This led to much prayer about this today and god as always has faithfully answered. Pamela’s mom and uncle talked to her this morning and gave her their blessing for us. It is amazing how God works in hearts and changes people, even those that do not follow Him.
We had a great afternoon with the kids playing games and studying the bible. We are going through the book of John with the kids and today we covered chapter 6:35-40.
Pamela and I are doing the year bible reading plan and today we read
Psalm 62-63
Exodus 6:1-8:19
2 Chronicles 35
Romans 2:1-3:8
We didn’t read yesterday so we had to make up a day.
We are also reading through Radical by David Platt.
Today we read the first half of Chapter 3
Today we filmed a few more videos of the kids for thew website. If you haven’t seen these, please do soon. Get to know these kids and start praying for them personally. Pray that God grants them repentance and trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation.
Send them videos and tell them you are thinking of them and praying for them.
My daily reading in my alone time was
Haggai 1-2
Zechariah 1-2
Romans 9-10
George Muller chapter 14
I spent 21.20 soles for transportation and food (all personal expenses) that is about $8
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
(Romans 12:9-21 ESV)
Another proof of the conquest of a soul for Christ will be found in a real change of life. If the man does not live differently from what he did before, both at home and abroad, his repentance needs repented of, and his conversion is a fiction.
- Charles Spurgeon
The Gospel
Now, we have all heard the name Jesus Christ, I had heard the name all my life, I had heard many things about Jesus and heard many people tell me who Jesus was, as I am sure you have as well. I am here to tell you, that the Jesus of the bible is radically different from what we have been taught.
I was a drug addict for the majority of my adult life. I had rejected the Jesus people told me about at a young age, and began doing drugs at the age of 15. I got into cocaine about 12 years ago and was addicted to cocaine for 8 years. I am here to tell you how Jesus not only freed me from drug addiction but saved me from an eternity in hell and saved me into an eternity filled with Him.
It was November 1st 2008, I had just woken up after partying all night. I had never felt so horrible in my life. I was tired of being a drug addict and hopeless that I could ever quit. I decided that day was going to be my last. I was going to kill myself. As I was thinking about how I could end my pain and my life I noticed a bible sitting on my bookshelf. I was compelled to pick it up. I opened it up to the beginning of the new testament and started reading. As I read I was shocked and amazed. I always knew I was a sinner, but I never understood what that meant. I didn’t know that I had offended and rebelled against a Holy, righteous, worthy, and good God. I had no idea that His wrath was upon me. I had no idea that I was His enemy. I knew I wasn’t his friend, but I didn’t know I was His enemy. Jesus said if we are not with Him, then we are against Him. This is an amazing truth. There is no middle ground with Jesus. You are either all in, or you are against him. It was clear to me, I had been against Jesus my whole life. This was bad news, as I continued to read I found out that God has prepared a place of eternal punishment for His enemies and I was one of them. Deep down I knew that is exactly what I deserved as one who had been rebelling against God my entire life. I knew that no matter what good I did, even if I was perfect for the rest of my life, I still had a debt with God that I could never pay back. I was hopeless.
But I kept reading. As the story of Jesus continued, I heard some radical statements. “believe in me and I will give you life” “come to me all who weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” but I also heard Jesus say “you must be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect” “unless you are more righteous that the pharisees you will not see heaven.” it seemed to me to be conflicting. Did I have to be perfect to follow Jesus, or could I find life and rest in Jesus. Which was true? As I continued to read I saw the most beautiful truth that the world has ever known. Both are true and both are gifts freely offered by Jesus, and it is this truth that brings me to you today.
Jesus fulfilled the law. Jesus died a sinners death in the place of His people. Jesus forgives us, and makes us righteous.
After living a perfect life, fulfilling the law perfectly which God requires of all of us. If we don’t, we will not see the kingdom of God. After doing this Jesus willingly, in our place went to the cross and took upon himself all the wrath of God that was meant for His people, and He died on the cross. What the roman soldiers did to Jesus was horrific. But that was not how Jesus paid for sin. Jesus took the wrath of His father on that cross. The wrath that would take an eternity to satisfy if it was poured out on you. But because Jesus is infinitely worthy, the wrath of God was satisfied for His people on the that cross in Jesus Christ. Jesus died, and 3 days later God raised Him from the dead proving that He was His infinitely worthy son and that He had accepted the payment for the sins of His people. Jesus is now at the right hand of the father commanding every person everywhere to repent and believe in Him. Everyone everywhere. He is commanding you, yes you, to repent and believe in Him today. Everyone who repents and believes will be forgiven and will have the righteousness of Christ.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
2 Corinthians 5:21
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Every one of you has sinned against God and God is commanding you to repent and believe the gospel. And this what I have just shared with you is the gospel.
The question I want you to ask yourself is “since you have heard this gospel, has the Holy Spirit done a work in your heart”? Do you now hate the sin you once loved and love the God you once hated? If so, repent and believe the gospel. If not, pray that God would open your spiritual eyes to the truth of His gospel.
I am telling you this because I love you and I love God. I don’t want you to remain God’s enemy. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
The Lord’s faithfulness in cotton candy
It has been a rough month financially and I was down to my last few dollars. It was a Sunday morning and as always I left my house on my way to church. I met my girlfriend at the bus stop and we got on a bus to head to church. We soon realized that we barely had enough money to get us to and ferom church. Which was ok because we have enough food at home to last for the next few days and I don’t have anywhere to go either. After church we were sitting and conversing witha friend who invited us to spend the day with a group from church. We declined due to the fact that we had no money. The friend quickly and without hesitation told us that if we were declining for lack of money that he would gladly pay for us to eat and go to the water fountain park and our transportation along the way. It is always amazing how God provides, not just financially but in many ways. My girlfriend and I have been praying for the last few months that God would bring people around us to encourage us, hold us accountable and help us to grow spiritually and biblically. It turned out that a day with friends from church was more than just fun, but it built relationships that I pray will soon be an answer to the prayer I mentioned earlier.
After we ate we went to the water fountain park. When we arrived we saw a few people selling cotton candy, my girlfiend began to express that she would really like one. But as I mentioned before, we didn’t have any extra money to buy it for her. But God being so gracious, even after he had just provided us lunch and we knew that a friend was paying our entrance fee into the park, gave my girlfriend and amazing surprise. As we were nearing the entrance we saw pink package on the ground. One of the peple in our group picked it up and pased it to another friend, the package ended up in my hand and I gave it to my girlfriend. It was the cotton candy that she had been longing for.
I am far from a name it and claim it gospel guy, I despise such a gospel. But I know that God delights in giving good gifts to his kids. I think this gift was as much for me as it was for my girlfiend if not even more so. God was showing me that He is faithful, and not only will He supply my needs but He will even delight in blessing me with more than I need from time to time. Just to remind me how much He loves me in Christ. Sometimes God takes us, intentionally, through difficult times to show His faithfulness. I have been praying for His provision recently due to the lack thereof. Although He has not yet supplied my needs for the coming month I know He will. He shoed me that through a bag of cotton candy. And reminded me later that day by giving me $20, through the same friend who was so generous to buy lunch and entrance to the park and transportation for the day, to make it through the rest of the month.
God is faithful!
Never let the cross slide into second or third place in your life. Never lay it aside. Never move on. Nothing else is of equal importance. The message of Christ and Him crucified is the Christian’s hope, confidence, and assurance. Heaven will be spent marveling at the work of Christ, the God Man who suffered in the place of us sinners.
A Letter To My Friends In Peru
Hey friends, most of you know me pretty well and know about my ministry in Caja de Agua, but I want to share a little bit about it anyway and then invite you to come be a part of what God is doing here.
I arrived in Lima about a year and a half ago after selling everything I owned. I came to bring the gospel and the love of Jesus to a small hillside neighborhood in Caja de Agua, SJL, Lima Peru. When I arrived I began construction on a church and children’s center. Upon completion of the church problems began to arise with the church I was partnered with. They began to stray from the gospel of grace to the gospel of prosperity, health and wealth so I was forced to cut ties with them. I have continued the work on my own with the help of my girlfriend and a few of you. I lost the building I built but through the providence of God I am now in a bigger building that better suits the needs of the ministry. God has been so faithful to keep this ministry going even through all the difficulties and oposition that we have faced. But, I believe now we are at a very pivotal moment and I am in great need of God to raise up some of the saints to come and help serve and minister to these kids and this community..
The Lord has laid some plans on my heart to expand the ministry, which at this time it frustrates me greatly because I do not have the people or resources to do it. But I trust God to provide for everything He has called us to do. Here is a list of a few things I believe God is calling me to do here in Caja de Agua.
1- Start a church service for children (children’s ministry) on Saturday afternoons.
2- start a young adult bible study, also a bible study for adults.
3- Be more aggressive sharing the gospel with the members of this community, door to door, inviting them to the center for parties, bbq’s things like that to build relationships and share the gospel.
4- service projects to help the elderly and single mothers in the community.
I understand that we all have very busy lives and have already committed to helping in many other ministries. I get that. But I am asking each and everyone of you to sacrifice a few hours one day a month to help this ministry out. Wether you want to help with something on this list or to help with the kids, any and all help would be a huge blessing and answered prayer. Also along with helping for a few hours a month I am asking you to pray weekly for the ministry and the people involved. So please prayerfully consider my request to you.
It’s all about Jesus!
Thanks,
T.J. Lindsey
Heart of Christ Ministries
God wants you to find your ultimate and everlasting joy in the praise of His name, in the praise of His glorious grace. Not begrudging submission to an endless list of rules, but joy in His grace.
It seemed unscriptural to me for a servant of Christ to put himself under the control and direction of anyone but the Lord. I was now free to preach the gospel wherever the Lord opened the way. ~George Muller~
God is for the praise of His glorious grace. ultimately God is about God, and that is such GOOD NEWS!!
This is extremely good news. He has blessed us and saved us……. But can we look at the reason for a moment. TO THE PRAISE OF HIS GLORIOUS GRACE… He saved us and blesses us in the heavenly places for the praise of His glorious grace. The reason God does what He does is for His name, His glory His praise through His grace that He gives.
Let me tell you why this is such good news. Since God is for the praise of His glorious grace, He is not for you begrudging submission. He is for your joy, because that leads to the praise of His glorious grace.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
(Romans 12:2 ESV)
A letter to friends
Close to a year and a half ago I set out on this journey to Peru. It has been such an interesting ride. It has been so fun and so challenging but through all of it joy has increased. I am so thankful that each of you have been a part of this through prayer and donating financially for the advancement of the gospel. I am writing this to just a few of my dear friends and family in the Lord who at one time or another have been such a big part of this ministry in many different ways. God has used you all much more than you know.
First I want to make clear that this is God’s work and we are all blessed to be a part of it. He could do this without us and at times He does it through us even though we are more of a hindrance than a help. I trust God is going to continue to advance the gospel in this place and provide for this ministry. So, I am petitioning you to be an instrument of God to provide for htis ministry and the work that God is doing here.
A year ago the newness of what God was doing was such an excitement and was fresh on all our minds. It was easy to remember to pray and donate when we could. But as I have seen over the last year is a steady decrease in communication, encouragement, and funding. I know there are many reasons for that and I understand them all. Even theough all of that God has been so faithful to provide in every way. So please join me in praising Him for that.
We have come to a point in my time here that is really exciting and really scary as well. I am in great need of prayer and encouragement and accountability. I need all of you to be used by God in those areas. Also the financial needs are great I need all of you in that are as well. Yes, I am petitioning you for money, and yes I am petitioning and begging you to come along side of me in supporting this through prayer and encouraging me and holding me accountable. If I have over stepped my bounds and am asking things of you that you feel I have no right to, please message me privately and tell me. If not, let me tell you how you can help.
First I want you to commit to me to pray for this ministry and for me daily. If you commit to that I will commit to getting you regular prayer requests for you to pray specifically for people and the work.
Second I am looking for some of you be an encouraging force to this ministry. I am not just asking you to encourage me but also to encourage those who come to serve along side of us, the kids of course and the other people I have the opportunity to serve. You can do this many ways. Make viseos where you talk to the kids and tell them that you care and that you are praying for them. Make videos thanking the people that are here on the ground helping. Make videos encouraging the adults and the students I have been able to minister to. This can also be done through email if that is easier, although it would be more significant if they had a face to go along with your kind words. Also it would be so great to get emails and phone calls from all of you, I need to be encouraged so through that I pray you could encourage me and I could encourage you.
Third I am looking for you guys to hold me accountable. Ask me the tough questions. On a personal level I am looking for a few brothers in christ who are willing to go deep with me and hold me accountable. Men I can confess sin to. Men who will not be afraid to tell me what I NEED to hear and not what I want to hear. Also I need men and women to ask the tough questions about the ministry. And hold me accountable in that.
Fourth, I am asking everyone of you to come on board and help financially. I am asking everyone of you to come on board and help financially. I said that twice on purpose. I know it is never easy to sacrifice our money. Let me assure you that this petition comes after many days of intense prayer and seeking the Lord in His word. Also I would not ask this if the fruit of the ministry was not abundant. These kids have been the focus from the beginning and it is so exciting to see how far God has brought them. Also I have had other opportunities to minister to english students and to adults. Live are being changed by the gospel. I am not asking you to sacrifice hundreds of dollars nor I am asking you to finance this ministry by your self. I am asking you all to give a little. Can you all afford $10 a month? It doesn’t seem like a lot but trust me, it will make a huge difference. Some of you that I am writing to are already giving monthly, for that I thank you, please pray that everyone else that is reading this will be compelled by our God to give.
As I said earlier, if this letter has offended anyone, please tell me privately. If it has not offended you I ask you to also message me privately and let me know that you are on board with this and how I can stay in touch with you and when so you can hold me accountable and we can encourage each other.
Grace and Peace from our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hey guys, it has been a while since I sat down to give you guys a detailed update on that God has been doing here in Lima Peru, through and in the ministry. So in this newsletter I will be giving you a brief overview of what has been happening.
Last time I wrote we were in a crisis of losing the building that you guys funded to be built for the ministry. Well, we did lose it, or at least, most of it. BUT, God is overly good to us. In the process of me fighting to keep the building, God opened up an opportunity for us to use an existing building, or at least to request for it’s use. That in itself was a process that took a couple weeks with multiple meeting and finally a vote with the members of the community that we serve. The vote was overwhelmingly in our favor and the building was given to us to use for ministry work (no restrictions and us being in full control). A few days after, while I was moving the ministry into the new building we met resistance by a church group that claimed that the building was theirs and that they wanted us to leave. This also was a process that took a couple weeks, and finally another community meeting. At the meeting the church group changed their tune, and expressed that they would like to work along side the ministry and only use the building one day per week. This agreement was very favorable for me and the community. This brings another group into this community preaching the gospel and it gives me a day off. So far the group has come 2 times since this decision was made over a month ago. It looks like they will just be coming occasionally to do special events which should work out fine for all of us.
We were able to put on a very good Christmas program and we were able to provide Christmas gifts to over 60 children. We were also able to give cakes to a about 12 of the moms. A couple people really stepped up and donated money to make all this possible. God was faithful to use a select few of you to help out the kids here. We also had about 15 people come to serve along side of us and to bring snacks and other gifts for the kids. It was so encouraging to have God raise up so many hands and feet t help. The gospel was shared and the community was loved. So I would like to thank all of you who prayed and helped financially to make that happen. I wish you all could have been here to see the faces of the kids. I doubt they had ever experienced anything like that before.
I met a girl about 3 months ago and she began helping the ministry daily. We have now began dating and are seeking the Lords will in our relationship. We are asking for prayer in that are. She has been such a God send for helping the ministry. She is reliable and here daily for the kids. With having such a reliable partner in the ministry it has really lightened my load and enabled me to really spend more time with the kids and more time doing the administrative things for the ministry as well. I feel like I have twice as much time as I used to. We have started documenting what we do daily and I hope we can find I way to make that public very soon.
The ministries focus since my return from visiting home has been to help these kids supplement their education and teach them the gospel in a fun environment. That has been working o.k., but we have been losing some of the kids. So, we are reshaping and rethinking how we do things. First I want to say that if the gospel is not being preached daily, then this is pointless and I will stop and come home. So, the most important thing is sharing the gospel with people. The original plan of this ministry and me moving to Peru was to provide a safe place for kids to come and be safe, have fun, be kids and hear the gospel. I am returning to my roots. I still want to occasionally help these kids with math, science, reading, writing, and other things, but I will be spending less time o those things than on just having fun and playing games. For example the last few days we have spent about 2 hours playing minute to win it games and then 20 or 30 minutes sharing the gospel and discussing the things of God. Yesterday I had question and answer time and got questions from “why did God create sin” to “who was Jesus praying to”. God is stirring in these kids hearts and I am so excited to be a part of this. Please please please pray daily for these kids.
I also have lots of ideas of things I want to do. I want to make profile videos of the kids so you can get to know them. I would like to post them on the website and maybe highlight one child per month. I would also like to figure out how to share more with you guys about what we are doing daily and let you guys see more. Please pray for me as I try to discern what and how God wants to accomplish here.
Now financially. God has been so gracious to us and has always taken care of all of our needs. The coolest part of that is that He chose to use some of you to do it. Recently we have lost a few of our monthly donors due to personal struggles in their lives. That has made it very difficult on the ministry here. But as I said, God has provided everything that we NEEDED. The cost of operating this ministry is about $350 per month, on top of that it takes about $200 for me personally to eat and get around. The last few months (excluding the special Christmas fundraising) that is all we have been receiving. Which is ok but that limits the kinds of things we can do and the help we can give out. Add that to the loss of a few key donors to the ministry, the next few months should be interesting. I know God will provide and I am praying that He uses some of you.
The new building needs a little bit of work to make it secure for all the ministries belongings. It is in a dangerous area and by Gods grace we have a few expensive items that we would like to keep safe. Also the bathroom here is just a toilet and bucket for a sink. I would really like to put a new bathroom in. There are also many needs, like tables, bibles, videos, and other items. Please pray with us on this. If God is moving in your heart to partner with us financially and prayerfully. Please contact me at tjlndsy@gmail.com or visit the website www.heartofchristministries.com
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I will try to update all of you more often. God bless you all so much.
Christianity is unique
Recently I have been able to talk to many people here in Peru and (thanks to technology) people in the States about my beliefs. I have also been able to spend a little time listening to others talk about their beliefs. So, I wanted to take a minute and talk about somethings that have been made clearer to me over the past few months. The first thing that I want to talk about is the fact that Christianity is different than any other belief system in the world that is around today or that has ever been around. “Why is that?” you may ask. The answer is simple, because Christianity is not about us. Christianity is abut God. Yes, we are a part of it, but we are at no time or in no circumstance to focal point. Every other religion or belief system is about you. Let me explain. This is very simplified, but none the less true. Every other belief system reached that if you do certain things you can become closer to God or gain acceptance from God or become a god. Making you and what you do the focal point of God and you. For example, new age teaches, do certain things and become part of the divine, mormonism teaches do certain things be exulted and maybe become a god yourself. Catholicism teaches that you must do all the religious duties to be excepted by God. Atheism teaches you do not have any meaning or divine purpose so do whatever you want to do. and so on and so on. but Christianity is RADICALLY different.
The more I read the bible, the more I am separated from the beliefs i explained above. these beliefs are not at all biblical. yes, you can take a few verses out of context to pretty much make an argument for any belief system, but if you take the bible as a whole, you will see that it fights against these teachings. Let me explain.
When God does something (as explained in the bible) and the writer tells us the reason why He did it, it is always for His glory, for His name, for His honor. Yes, these things work out for the good of His people as well, and that is usually and underlying reason, but the focus and most illuminated reason is for Him. God does things in ways that man can never take credit for them. for example, an army walks around a city blowing trumpets and the walls fall down and they conquer it. why did God do it that way? so those involved could say, we did a good job. obviously not. God does things in ways that He gets all the glory. He uses the most jacked up sinners, the outcasts the weak. He used a persecutor of His church to write 13 books of the new testament. why??? so man would get the glory? obviously not. He did it so He alone would be glorified. Christianity, the Bible, this life, and everything else, is about GOD! it is about Jesus Christ! the gospel, although we receive a great and priceless benefit from it, is not about us, it is about God. it tells us who God is. For God so loved the world. not that the world was so lovable. but while we were yet sinners Christ does for us. That is about God. God gets the glory, God gets the credit. God is the focus of the gospel. we are just beneficiaries. now please don’t misunderstand, we are radically loved by God, but even that, is not about us. to be blunt, God loves you in spite of you. God doesn’t love you because you are a good person, God loves you because He is a good God. Again, it’s not about you, it is about God.
This all comes down to the gospel, that is what the focal point of the bible is from beginning to end. The gospel is what separates Christianity from every other belief system. Let me lay it out for you.
God (it always starts with God) created you. He created everything. He did it for HIM! For His good pleasure and purpose. Man decided (everyone of us) we wanted to go against that purpose. We are sinners by nature and choice. what that means is, God gave us standards to live by, and we all rebelled against God and His way. we went our own way. we are (or were) ALL radically depraved and God hating. But God, being rich in mercy sent a Savior. This Savior, Jesus Christ, was obedient to the law of God, He did not rebel, He was completely faithful. He fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law. But He took on the sins of His people and absorbed the wrath of God for those sins. see, sin is not some minor offense, sin is Holy treason, deserving of eternal punishment and wrath of God. Sin is serious. But Jesus, while we were yet sinners, He died for us. and Jesus being infinitely worthy and precious could pay the penalty for all His people in a matter of hours on the cross, paid in full. 3 days later He walked out of the grave and is alive today at the right hand of the Father, praying for us. Jesus offers this, if you will just believe, He has already taken your sin to the cross and He will give you His perfect righteousness. a free gift, GRACE, through faith. not after all you can do, but after all HE did. it is about Jesus not about you. when you stand before God, He will either look at you and see Jesu, or He will see you and your sin. Jesus is the only one that is worthy, and He will give you His righteousness to make you worthy too. it is only by grace that we are saved. because God is good, not because we are. nothing you ever do will earn you righteousness in Gods sight. YOU NEED JESUS. you need to Him t take your sin and give you His righteousness. that is the ONLY WAY. Repent and believe the gospel, and you WILL be saved.
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
(Luke 2:8-21 ESV)
I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
(1 Timothy 1:12-17 ESV)
God of our life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and weigh us down; when the road seems dreary and endless, the skies grey and threatening; when our lives have no music in them, and our hearts are lonely, and our souls have lost their courage. Flood the path with light, run our eyes to where the skies are full of promise; tune our hearts to brave music; give us the sense of comradeship with heroes and saints of every age; and so quicken our spirits that we may be able to encourage the souls of all who journey with us on the road of life, to Your honour and glory.
Augustine
I am God’s, I was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ as He bled and died on the cross. There is no work I can do to add to that price. Salvation is free because it is priceless, not because it is cheap. A gospel of works make salvation much cheaper than a gospel of grace.
Hey guys, it is November 16th 2011. So much has been going on here in Lima Peru at Heart of Christ Ministries and I wanted to update you on a few things.
Most of you are aware of the difficulties and struggles so I will spare you of most of that, although the problems have increased and I am sure that soon I will need to find somewhere else to live. So please pray for me in this that God leads me to where He wants me living and that the ministry is compensated fairly for the building that we are being kicked out of. Please also pray for those that are trying to make us leave, they have strayed so far from the gospel and have been caught up in the word of faith and the prosperity gospel, I worry for their souls. The kids have been told that if they come to the ministry they cannot attend their church, which is a good thing but the kids are so confused. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE KIDS!
On a better note, we have gotten access to the building that we have been talking with the community about. This facility is owned by the community, and they have given the ministry complete access and sole access. This is a huge blessing, the building is a lot bigger but it does need a little work to make it secure. So please pray for the funds and hands to do that, also pray for God to use the ministry and this facility in mighty ways. I am so excited about this new place, more kids are coming and adults and too. The community has really rallied behind the ministry through these problems.
I would like to do something for the kids this Christmas and I need your help. I would like to provide a small gift for each of the kids and do a Christmas party. What I am asking is that each of you sacrifice $10, with that I will be able to buy 1 child a Christmas present. I am also asking my Peruvian friends to help put on the party. Please let me know if you can help.

This morning was like every other morning. I was enjoying my alone time with God in prayer when a child entered the center. He kept his distance but after a few minutes as I was still praying i could here quiet soft words coming from across the room. The child that had entered had begun to pray. After a few minutes of thanking God for things in his life I heard him walk out. A few seconds later I heard those foot steps again. Again I heard a quiet voice from across the room. It was the same child reading his bible.
The reason I wanted to share this is because I want us all to remember that somebody is always watching a mimicking our actions, especially children.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! (Psalm 143:10 ESV)
3 Years ago today i was waking up after a hard night of partying, extremely hungover and depressed. I had been a cocaine addict for about 8 years and an alcoholic for much longer than that. I was tired of life, fed up with the endless cycle of drug highs and the depression that followed and i wanted to end my life. As i contemplated suicide i was compelled by the Holy Spirit to pick up a bible that i had but had never even opened. I just opened it up and began reading, by divine sovereignty i opened it up to the book of Matthew. i began to read, through the reading of the Bible i discovered who Jesus Christ is and what He had done to save me. God changed me and led me to repentance that afternoon and completely changed my life. The drug and alcohol addictions were supernaturally taken away that day and the desires i had, were completely changed, and new desires were given to me by the sovereign Creator. 3 years ago i wanted my life to end, but God had other plans. the last 3 years of my life have been radically different than i ever could have imagined. i am now a missionary in Lima Peru sharing that radical gospel and the amazing love of Jesus. Do you think you are too far gone for God to forgive you? you are not! do you think you need to change before you can come to God? you don’t, JUST COME TO JESUS!!!!
We had an amazing day at Heart of Christ Ministries in Caja de Agua Lima Peru. we had our first ever harvest festival/reformation day celebration. We had about 30 kids and all of them heard the gospel, had tons of candy and had tons of fun playing games and singing songs. What a blessing it is to be a part of what God is doing in this place. Thank you all that pray for me and that donate to make this happen, everyday i am amazed and praise God that He allows me to do this and uses all of you to help. He keeps raising up people here to help as well, today i had 4 amazing people here to minister to and bless the kids. I am amazed at the sacrifices people are willing to make to bless others. God bless all of you.
The first thing for any of us is not to run hither and thither, consulting people or soliciting their help, but to be perfectly assured that we are in the mind of the Lord and that He will supply all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
- Charles Spurgeon
All the blessings we enjoy are Divine deposits, committed to our trust on this condition, that they should be dispensed for the benefit of our neighbors.

Humility and love are precisely the graces which the men of the world can understand, if they do not comprehend doctrines. They are the graces about which there is no mystery, and they are within reach of all classes… The poorest Christian can every day find occasion for practicing love and humility.

it has been an amazing day with the kids today. 2 people came to help and totally blessed me and the kids. we studied math and did a bible study and now we are winding the day down with the wii. Jesus is King http://ow.ly/77GEc
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. (Romans 8:28-29 ESV)
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:5-6 ESV)
prayer request
i am asking for prayer. a week from today there is a team of doctors coming to the center to help the kids and their families. please pray that God moves through this and the gospel penetrates hearts, and that people are physically healed as well.

Too many professors are quarrelling with God that they are not other than they are. This is evil, and shows that pride is still in their hearts, for were they conscious of their own deserts they would know that anything short of hell is more than we deserve, and as long as we are not in the pit of torment gratitude becomes us.

The man who is trying to be a Christian is trying to hold on to something. The man who is a Christian feels that he is being held by something. It has been put to him, it is there; it may even seem to be in spite of him, but it is there. It is …not what he is doing that matters to him; it is what has been done to him, it is what he has become, it is the awareness of this power within him.

Assurance is the result of a competent spiritual knowledge of the person and work of Christ as revealed in the gospel, and a consciousness of dependence on Him and His work alone for salvation.

There is no other object of knowledge in the universe that exposes proud, man-exalting thinking like the cross does. Only humble, Christ-exalting thinking can survive in the presence of the cross. The conscience is generally seen by the modern world as a defect that robs people of their self-esteem. Far from being a defect or a disorder, however, your ability to sense your own guilt is a tremendous gift from God. He designed the conscience into the very framework of the human soul. It is the automatic warning system that cries, “Pull up! Pull up!” before you crash and burn.

Titus 3:4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
In the cross of Christ, as in a splendid theater, the incomparable goodness of God is set before the whole world. The glory of God shines in all creatures on high and below, but never more brightly than in the cross, in which there was a wonderful change of things – the condemnation of all men was manifested, sin blotted out, salvation restored to men; in short, the whole world was renewed and all things restored to order.
